TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SURFACE AMERICA, INC., FOR AMERITILE OUTDOOR SPORT COURT TO RESURFACE THE FRIENDSHIP PARK TENNIS COURTS, UP TO $25,000; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation Director, Raleigh Mitchell, has been researching vendors who carry Ameritile Outdoor Sport Court, for resurfacing tennis courts for over a year, and SURFACE AMERICA is the only vendor found that carries sport court; and
WHEREAS, funding up to $25,000 has been appropriated in 2000 for resurfacing the Friendship Park tennis courts, and Director Mitchell wishes to use the material that only SURFACE AMERICA can provide, and has asked to waive the bid process; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation before the end of the year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with SURFACE AMERICA, INC., 505 Aero Drive, Cheektowaga, New York 14225, for Ameritile Outdoor Sport Court for resurfacing the tennis courts at Friendship Park.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of $25,000 was appropriated in the 2000 Appropriations to Account No. 101.431.5515, Parks Capital, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That the bidding process is hereby waived.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
