TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO MODIFY THE SCOPE OF SERVICES WITH W.E. STILSON CONSULTING GROUP, TO COVER INSPECTION OF THE ADDITIONAL PAVING WORK ON US 62 AND MATERIAL TESTING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, all of the funds allocated to the 2008 Asphalt Overlay project by ORD-0122-2008 and ORD-0186-2008 to Kokosing Construction will not be needed under that contract; and
WHEREAS, said funds are needed to cover a change in scope to the Stilson contract authorized by ORD-0123-2008 to cover inspection of the additional paving of westbound lanes of US 62 from Stygler Road to the corporation limit and material testing; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize the Mayor to modify the inspection contract with Stilson Consulting, and to cover the $10,709 overrun cost created by that work; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward so that the contractor can be paid, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to modify the inspection contract with W.E. STILSON CONSULTING GROUP, 355 E. Campus View Blvd., Suite 250, Columbus, Ohio 43235, to cover inspection of the additional paving added on US 62 and material testing; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TEN THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS ($10,709) is available in account No. 101.145.5513, Engineering, Capital/Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on day of signature approval by the Mayor.
