WHEREAS, recently a structure was discovered in Gahanna on Johnstown Road that is one of the earliest one room schoolhouses in Central Ohio, dating back to the 1860s; and
WHEREAS, there is great interest in restoring the one room schoolhouse as a learning tool for today's children and turning it into a museum with tours and an actual school marm; and
WHEREAS, Tom Gregory, a teacher at Gahanna Lincoln High School has taken on the task of coordinating the reconstruct and restoration of the building and has asked the City to waive building permit fees; and
WHEREAS, the Administration has recommended we proceed to waive these fees:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby waives the $1,500 building permit fee as set forth in the Building Fee Schedule per ORD-0224-2012 for the historic one room schoolhouse.
Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
