WHEREAS, the 16" water main transmission line gate valve at the corner of James and Johnstown Roads is in disrepair and needs to be replaced; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service asked for letterhead quotes and is proposing that we proceed with the lowest and best; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project to finish the replacement before the end of the construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Nickolas Savko & Sons, Inc., 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214, for removal and replacement of the 16" water main transmission line gate valve; James and Johnstown Roads.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FOURTEEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($14,800) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the WSCI Fund, to Account No. 652.351.5596, Miscellaneous Water Improvements, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2002, passed January 2, 2002, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
