TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SHELLY AND SANDS, FOR ASPHALT RESURFACING, CRACK SEALING AND DETROIT STREET REBUILDS, FOR THE 2016 STREET PROGRAM, IMPROVEMENT NO. 1039.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on February 29, 2016, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service for construction services of the 2016 Street Program; and

 

WHEREAS, this year’s street program consists of asphalt resurfacing, crack sealing, and Detroit Street rebuilds; and

 

WHEREAS, Shelly and Sands was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a base bid of $2,869,683 which is below the engineer’s estimate; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer and Director of Public Service recommend we enter into contract with Shelly and Sands.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Shelly and Sands, 1515 Harmon Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43223 for asphalt resurfacing, crack sealing, and Detroit Street rebuilds, for the 2016 Street Program, Improvement No. 1039; said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of THREE MILLION FIFTY FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SEVEN DOLLARS ($3,054,337) has been set aside in the 2016 Appropriations.

 

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after passage by this Council and date of signature approval by the Mayor.
