TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD, AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH GEORGE KOUNTOUPES PAINTING CO. FOR REHABILITATION OF THE GAHANNA WOODS WATER TOWER, IMPROVEMENT NO. 803; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Woods Water Tower is in great need of painting for restoration and preservation; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened April 26, 2002, and the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that this project begin as soon as possible all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award, and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with GEORGE KOUNTOUPES PAINTING CO., 661 Southfield Road, Lincoln Park, Michigan 48146, for painting of the Gahanna Woods Water Tower, in accordance with City specifications; bid tab attached as Exhibit A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED FOURTEEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY SIX DOLLARS ($214,236) was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 652.351.5596, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council, and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
