TO REDEFINE THE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PART-TIME PLANNER TO THE DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT FOR A PERIOD ENDING JUNE 30, 2002; TO SET COMPENSATION THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Administration and this Council to redefine the position of part-time planner to the development department created by Ordinance No. 136-96, and extended most recently by ORD-0276-2000, with the mutual understanding that this position is a temporary position for a limited time frame; and

 

WHEREAS, the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position must be restricted to the planning process; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Development has recommended the need for this redefinition in order to complete ongoing projects; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for this part-time position at the earliest possible time, all for orderly planning of critical areas of the City and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  The part-time, temporary position of planner to the Department of Development created by Ordinance No. 136-96, and most recently extended by ORD-0276-2000, is hereby redefined in EXHIBIT A, attached to this ordinance and made a part herein, for a period ending June 30, 2002.

 

Section 2.  That compensation is established for the period ending June 30, 2002, at a salary of $18,000 not to exceed 720 hours for year 2002, said funding to be provided in Account No. 101.343.5112, Development, Part-Time Planner, for the 2002 Appropriations, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and immediately on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
