A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING STEPHEN A. RENNER FOR HIS ENDURING COMMITMENT TO LEADERSHIP, SERVICE, AND SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS IN THE CITY OF GAHANNA
BODY
WHEREAS, Stephen A. Renner has been a proud resident of Gahanna for over 26 years, and has served as an elected member of the City Council since 2012; and

WHEREAS, Stephen A. Renner has dedicated his professional life to public service as Director of the Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering, leading efforts to improve water quality, abate sewer nuisances, and enhance public health in Central Ohio through strategic partnerships and robust capital improvement projects; and

WHEREAS, Stephen A. Renner has demonstrated a commitment to academic and professional excellence by enrolling in the Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service's Master of Sustainability, Security, and Resilience (MSSR) program, which has broadened his understanding of climate change, human systems, sustainable development, and resiliency; and

WHEREAS, Stephen A. Renner has applied the knowledge and skills gained from the MSSR program to his work in local government, using innovative approaches to address environmental challenges and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Gahanna and beyond; to wit: creating a Climate Urban Resilience Plan with strategies to promote green infrastructure such as rain gardens, bioswales, and trees, and identifying effective ways to involve community members in the planning and decision-making process for green initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Stephen A. Renner's leadership extends beyond Gahanna, as evidenced by his service on the Central Ohio Climate Action Plan working group for Energy and Water Systems, and his role as a featured speaker at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission's 2024 Summit on Sustainability, where he highlighted the power of community, the importance of action, and the critical need for collaboration in addressing global and lo...
