SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION AND TRANSFER - Communications/Dispatch

WHEREAS, it is the desire and intent of the Police Department to operate the Communications Center with 10 fully deployable radio dispatchers, and to have two dispatchers on duty at all times due to call volume and the detailed work of the dispatchers; and
WHEREAS, currently the department is operating with 9 fully deployable dispatchers with one in training and expected to complete training by July 1, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the department has received a resignation from one of the nine deployed dispatchers which will leave the staff at eight dispatchers for at least one month; and
WHEREAS, additional funding is needed for the overtime and the continued operation of the department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of NINETY THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($93,560) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to the following accounts:
to Account No. 101.221.5117, Overtime - Communications $80,000
to Account No. 101.221.5131, PERS Communications 11,200
to Account No. 101.221.5132, Worker's Compensation 1,200
to Account No. 101.221.5138, Medicare - Communications 1,160
$93,560
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000) is hereby transferred from Account No. 101.221.5110, Dispatchers, to Account No. 101.221.5117, Dispatchers - Overtime.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2011, passed January 3, 2011, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation and transfer.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
