TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO JOINT MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES FOR TWO YEARS WITH OPTION TO RENEW BY EITHER PARTY FOR THREE ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIODS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, for several years the City has joined the townships of Mifflin and Jefferson in maintaining the vehicles belonging to the City, Mifflin Township, and Jefferson Township, and the Administration has recommended that we continue this joint project; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the expiration of the current Joint Maintenance Agreement, it is desirable and necessary to authorize a new Agreement for the continuity of the vehicle maintenance and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into "Joint Maintenance Agreement" between the City of Gahanna and Jefferson Township, said Agreement attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That the Director of Public Service has requested waiver of second reading of this ordinance.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
