TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING FOR THE MORRISON ROAD AND CONNECTOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

Body

 

WHEREAS, proposal has been received under date of September 9, 1998 for professional services to develop preliminary details to improve Morrison Road and a connector roadway between Morrison Road and Hamilton Road, and has been recommended by the City Engineer; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to develop feasible alignment for avigational easements for Port Columbus International Airport, as well as floodplain requirements for Big Walnut Creek; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the magnitude of the development in this area, it is necessary to proceed at the earliest possible date with this preliminary engineering for the orderly flow of traffic from Morrison Road, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio, for preliminary engineering for a connector road from Morrison Road, said preliminary engineering in accordance with proposal, dated September 9, 1998, attached to this ordinance, and in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding for this engineering is available in the 1998 Appropriations from Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs of Nineteen Thousand Dollars.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
