TO HONOR AND COMMEND KATE KOCH GATCH FOR
HER WORK WITH BIKE LADY, INC.

WHEREAS, KATE KOCH GATCH founded Bike Lady, Inc., a non-profit organization which helps to provide bicycles, helmets and locks to children through the Holiday Wish program run by Franklin County Children's Services; and
WHEREAS, KATE KOCH GATCH, underwrites all administrative costs and one hundred percent of the funds donated are used to purchase bicycles, helmets and locks which are then immediately donated and transferred to Franklin County Children's Services Holiday Wish Program; and
WHEREAS, in 2012 KATE KOCH GATCH, with help from prisoners at the Pickaway Correctional Institution, was able to assemble 712 bikes for the program; and
WHEREAS, KATE KOCH GATCH raised over $45,000 this year and was able to top 1,000 bikes for the first time and has distributed 1,212 bikes in the previous four years combined; and
WHEREAS, KATE KOCH GATCH learned the true meaning of public service from her father who was active in local politics; and
WHEREAS, KATE KOCH GATCH, believes in the unparalleled magic of the holiday season and the power of a bicycle to change a young life for the better;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That KATE KOCH GATCH is hereby honored and commended for the great contribution she has made to the Gahanna community and children throughout our region.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
