TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH AMERISCAPE INC., FOR MUNICIPAL GATEWAY LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has found that hiring a private contractor is the best way to maintain the landscape of the City's entryways and other select areas to keep them looking their best; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on March 23, 2012 for maintenance of the these entryways; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with the lowest, most responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, with the unseasonably warm weather growth of plants, weeds and grass has been accelerated and it is imperative to start this maintenance immediately, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with AMERISCAPE INC., P.O. Box 633, New Albany, Ohio 43054, for maintenance of the City of Gahanna gateways and other select areas; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FIFTY NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY DOLLARS ($59,230) was set aside in the 2012 Appropriations to Account No. 101.141.5249, Lands & Buildings Contract Services, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
