TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH TERRA SURVEYING SERVICES LLC, FOR SURVEYING FOR THE SOUTHWEST FLOODPLAIN; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $8,500; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan identified parcels along Big Walnut Creek for possible acquisition; and
WHEREAS, a survey of three of these parcels is necessary in order to proceed with any possible purchase negotiations; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and prudent to effect this contract at the earliest possible date all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Terra Surveying Services LLC, 238 Academy Woods Drive, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for surveying for possible land acquisition of southwest floodplain property, said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of EIGHT THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($8,500) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.431.5241, Parks, Service Contracts, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
