TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH TERRA SURVEYING TO DEVELOP AN ANNEXATION PLAT FOR A SECTION OF HAVENS CORNERS ROAD; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the safety of the Havens Corners and Helmbright intersection has been a matter of discussion for several years; and
WHEREAS, in order to make improvements to the intersection it is necessary to annex the roadway to the City so it is in our jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward on this contract to complete the work as quickly as possible so we can move into the annexation process, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Terra Surveying Services Co., 238 Academy Woods Drive, Gahanna, Ohio, for surveying a proposed annexation of Havens Corners Road.
Section 2. That the amount of EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($800) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Street Fund to Account No. 101.145.5533, Capital Projects, Engineering.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2001, passed January 2, 2001, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That for reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by Mayor.
