TO HONOR AND COMMEND CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE
Body
WHEREAS, CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE was aware of his surroundings and saw two masked men enter the Gahanna Video Store on January 19, 1999; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE, thinking only of the three women working in Gahanna Video, did, without hesitation or regard for his own safety, follow the robbers into the store averting not only the robbery, but the continued assault of the employees, and causing the robbers to flee; and
WHEREAS, one of the robbers leveled his pistol at CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE, before he left the store, then ran out slipping on the ice with Jack in pursuit landing on him; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE smashed in the rear window of the get away car with his hands to mark the vehicle for police, and this act, along with media exposure, produced witnesses that assisted the Gahanna Police Investigative Bureau in helping track and arrest the robbers; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE'S, only motivation was the safety of the women who worked in the video store, and he acted totally unselfishly and with great courage to help prevent a senseless act of violence; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE has shown himself a hometown hero:
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration join with the Police Department to honor and commend CHARLES J. "JACK" WOLFE, for his act of bravery and his caring for the community.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
