TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MCDANIEL'S CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CLOTTS ROAD PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE (PRV) RELOCATION; IMPROVEMENT NO. 985; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has been working to reduce the water age in the Foxboro area and currently are flushing hydrants on a biweekly schedule to manually reduce the water age in the area, and we need a permanent solution to the problem; and
WHEREAS, this can be accomplished by modifying our pressure zones by relocating the Clotts Road PRV; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on November 4, 2011 for the Clotts Road PRV relocation project; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with the lowest, most responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward so that the installation of the Pressure Reducing Valve can begin as soon as possible to solve the water problem, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with McDANIEL'S CONSTRUCTION, 1069 Woodland Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219, for the Clotts Road Pressure Reducing Valve relocation; Improvement No. 985; bid tab attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED THIRTY THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY EIGHT DOLLARS ($130,588) was set aside in the 2011 Appropriations to Account No. 652.351.5596, Water Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
