TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO EXTENDED CONTRACT WITH NICKOLAS SAVKO & SONS FOR THE MILL STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT, IMPROVEMENT NO. 903; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $25,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Mill Street utility project has excavated the entire existing street pavement on Mill Street; and

 

WHEREAS, this provides an opportunity to replace the pavement with a modern street base; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended this as a change order to the Morrison Road project, Improvement No. 769, authorized by ORD-0226-2005; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation so that work can continue on schedule, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to enter into extended contract with NICKOLAS SAVKO & SONS, 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214, for the Mill Street Reconstruction Project, Improvement No 903; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated to Account No. 325.122.5548, Capital, Asphalt Overlay.

 

Section 3.  That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($207,000) was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to Account No. 325.122.5548,Capital, Asphalt Overlay.

 

Section 4.  That ORD-0001-2006, passed January 2, 2006, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 8.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
