TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH BUCKEYE POWER SALES, FOR EQUIPMENT FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, 3 new mowers, needed attachments and a dingo broom are being requested by the Parks and Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, the City can access the current State of Ohio Bid list for the purchase and said prices expire November 30, 2008; and
WHEREAS, two of the new units will be equipped with snow brushes and cabs to facilitate a more efficient snow removal operation this winter; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this purchase to utilize the favorable existing contract pricing and to be able to have the equipment in time for the winter season, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into purchase agreement with Buckeye Power Sales, 6850 Commerce Court Drive, Blacklick, Ohio, 43004 for the purchase of equipment as listed on EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
Section 2. That THIRTY SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS ($36,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the general fund, to Account No. 101.431.5512, Parks, Capital Equipment, for this purchase.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That this equipment is available through the state bid list, specifically EXMARK #7751500406 and TORO #77515011081.
Section 5. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
