TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 121 MILL STREET FROM ROBERT J. ECKART; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $475,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has been interested in purchasing property in the Creekside area of downtown Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert J. Eckart for Best Courier has agreed to sell the property to the City of Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City to move forward in a timely fashion and for the continued development of the Creekside area all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to purchase property from Robert J. Eckart, of Best Courier, property located at 121 Mill Street, as described and in accordance with City specifications in the purchase agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and a Triple Net Lease to be signed at closing.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of FOUR HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($475,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated unencumbered balance of the Capital Improvements Fund to Account No. 325.122.5531, Capital Improvements Land Purchase.

 

Section 3.  That Ordinance No. 990001, passed January 2, 1999, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
