TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 57-63 MILL STREET FROM FRANK SUMMERFIELD THROUGH THE BROKER, THE ROBERT WEILER COMPANY; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $160,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has been interested in purchasing property in the Creekside area of downtown Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, Frank Summerfield, through the broker, The Robert Weiler Company, has agreed to sell the property to the City of Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City to move forward in a timely fashion and for the continued development of the Creekside area, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to purchase property from Frank Summerfield, through the broker, The Robert Weiler Company, said property located at 57-63 Mill Street, as described in the purchase agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of ONE HUNDRED SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($160,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.343.5511, Development, Capital Projects.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2001, passed January 2, 2001, is hereby amended to reflect this supplmental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
