TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR UP-FITTING THREE POLICE CRUISERS WITH IN-CAR COMPUTERS; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $74,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City recently purchased three new police cruisers which must be up-fitted with in-car computers, network connectivity devices and traffic radar units to be fully functional police vehicles; and
 
WHEREAS, for this equipment and up-fitting it is necessary to proceed with multiple vendors, and the City will be purchasing through State Term or other cooperative purchasing agreements; and
 
WHEREAS, it is important to order this needed equipment immediately to coincide with the arrival of the vehicles; and
 
WHEREAS, it is imperative to equip these police cruisers at the earliest possible time for the continued smooth running of the Police Department, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That the purchase and up-fitting of in-car computers for the three new police cruisers is hereby authorized; quotes attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
 
Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($74,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund, to Account 235.211.5512, FLETF, Capital Equipment, to cover the herein costs.
 
Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2014, passed January 2, 2014, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
 
Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and will be in full force and effect upon passage by Council and the signature of approval by the Mayor.
