TITLE
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING UTILITY RATES AND AMENDING GAHANNA CODIFIED ORDINANCES TITLE THREE PUBLIC UTILITIES - CHAPTER 921 SANITARY SEWER CONNECTIONS AND RENTAL RATES, CHAPTER 927 STORM SEWERS, CHAPTER 929 WATER CONNECTIONS AND RATES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BODY
WHEREAS, pursuant to Gahanna’s Codified Ordinances, the Department of Public Service annually reviews applicable code provisions (Chapters 921, 927, 929, and 941) and fee schedules for necessary updates and revisions related to utility rates; and
WHEREAS, the annual review occurs after the City of Columbus determines rates that are passed on to the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, on October 18, 2023, the Administration received the proposed increases for 2024 from the City of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, the Administration requests routine annual changes in utility fees and minor language changes; and
WHEREAS, the Administration requests passage of this Ordinance as an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of public peace, safety, health, and welfare of the City to ensure rates are effective as of January 1, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Gahanna Codified Ordinances Chapters 921 - Sanitary Sewer Connections and Rental Rats, 927 - Storm Sewers, and 929 - Water Connections and Rates, are hereby amended and adopted as set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble, this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure which shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
