TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH CLYDE E. WILLIAMS & ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND INSPECTION AT U.S. 62 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, contract is being awarded for construction and improvement work at varying U.S. 62 intersections, and it is mandatory that the City proceed immediately to provide adequate inspection and engineering services to monitor and oversee this work; and
WHEREAS, letterhead quote has been received and has been recommended by the Director of Public Service and the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, due to the massive being undertaken in the reconstruction and improvements to four U.S. 62 intersections, it is necessary to move forward with this agreement in order that the intersection work move forward with no undue delays for appropriate and organized vehicular traffic, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with CLYDE E. WILLIAMS & ASSOCIATES, INC., 130 East Wilson Bridge Road, Suite 025, Worthington, OH 43085, for U.S. 62 Construction Engineering of the U.S. 62 Intersection Improvements, Improvement No. 653, as said work is outlined on the attached letter, dated February 16, 1998, which is attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding for this work was set aside in the 1998 Appropriations in the amount of Thirty-five Thousand Dollars ($35,000) to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Project, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
