TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO REAL ESTATE PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH STONEHENGE LAND COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF 5.60+/- ACRES LOCATED ON NORTH HAMILTON ROAD; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE FUNDS THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the City has expressed interest in purchasing the property consisting of 5.60+/- acres located on North Hamilton Road and owned by Stonehenge Land Co.; and
WHEREAS, this land consists of portions of auditor's parcels 025-001941, 025-001922, 025-001956, 025-001989, 025-001928, and 025-001969; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of this property would allow the City to provide improved stormwater detention in the Gahanna Heights area and also allow for future park land development; and
WHEREAS, bond funds are available for this land acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation wishes to pursue the purchase as quickly as possible in order to secure the price of the property, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Real Estate Purchase Contract with Stonehenge Land Co., 147 N. High Street, Gahanna, Ohio, for the purchase of 5.60+/- acres of real property located on North Hamilton Road, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($174,350) is available from park bond proceeds and is available in Account No. 101.431.5531, Parks, Land Acquisition, for this Central Corridor Acquisition and is to be used towards this land acquisition.
Section 3. That TWO HUNDRED FORTY SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($247,500) is available from stormwater bond proceeds in Account No. 631.350.5596, Stormwater, Water, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover a portion of the balance of the acquisition of this property.
