TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC. CONSULTING ENGINEERS & SURVEYORS, FOR INSPECTION SERVICES FOR THE HAVENS CORNERS/HELMBRIGHT INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS, IMPROVEMENT NO. 794; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids were accepted for the Havens Corners/Helmbright Intersection Improvements on May 17, 2002; and
WHEREAS, inspection services are needed in conjunction with the awarding of the contract; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project due to construction time remaining this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC. CONSULTING ENGINEERS & SURVEYORS, 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio, 43230, for inspection services for the Havens Corners/Helmbright intersection improvements, Improvement No. 794, in accordance with City specifications; said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of THIRTY FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED ($34,500) was appropriated in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 325.122.5548, Capital Improvement Fund, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
