TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO MAINTENANCE AGREEMENTS WITH THYSSENKRUPP ELEVATOR CORP., FOR QUARTERLY INSPECTIONS OF THE CITY HALL AND POLICE STATION ELEVATORS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the City Hall and Police Station elevators be inspected on at least a quarterly basis; and
 
WHEREAS, if the City enters into a five year contract with ThyssenKrupp we can reduce the cost of the inspections from $519 a quarter to $270 for the first year with a 2% cap on any increases in the remaining four years, with a potential savings of $1,200; and
 
WHEREAS, since this contract will actually save money for the City it is imperative to move forward as soon as possible, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Maintenance Agreements with THYSSENKRUPP ELEVATOR CORP., P.O. Box 933004, Atlanta Georgia, 31193-3004 for inspections for the City Hall and Police Station elevators; Maintenance Agreements attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
 
Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FIVE HUNDRED FORTY DOLLARS ($540) was set aside in the 2011 Appropriations to Account No. 101.141.5249, Lands & Buildings, Contract Services, to cover the herein costs.
 
Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
