TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN ONGOING ANNUAL CONTRACT WITH THE OFFICE OF THE AUDITOR OF STATE, LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICES DIVISION, FOR THE GAAP CONVERSION; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Director of Finance has been notified that the Auditor of State is now requiring an annual contract to perform the annual GAAP Conversion which includes the new requirements of GASB 34; and
WHEREAS, the City has chosen to use the Auditor of State's office to perform such service; and
WHEREAS, due to the ongoing work being done to meet the GAAP Conversion requirements and the new request for an ongoing annual contract, it is necessary to proceed at the earliest possible date all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with the OFFICE OF THE AUDITOR OF STATE, LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICES DIVISION, for an ongoing annual contract for the GAAP Conversion, which includes the new requirements of GASB 34.
Section 2. That funding for this contract was appropriated in the 2003 appropriations to Account No. 101.130.5243, Financial Consultant GAAP, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
