TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO REAL ESTATE PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH ELLEN L. LEPERA, TRUSTEE, FOR THE PURCHASE OF 1.9176+/- ACRES LOCATED TO THE REAR OF 496 EAST JOHNSTOWN ROAD; TO TRANSFER FUNDS THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the City has expressed interest in purchasing the property consisting of 1.9176 acres to the rear of 496 E. Johnstown Road and owned by the Estate of Martha J. LePera; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of this property would allow the City to connect a series of properties in the central Gahanna area to create a mini/neighborhood park; and
WHEREAS, bond funds are available for this land acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation wishes to pursue the purchase as quickly as possible in order to complete the transaction this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Real Estate Purchase Contract with Ellen L. LePera, Trustee for the Estate of Martha J. LePera, for the purchase of 1.9176+/- acres of real property located to the rear of 496 E. Johnstown Road, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That TWO HUNDRED THIRTY EIGHT THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($238,500) is available from bond proceeds and is hereby transferred from Account No. 101.431.5596, Parks, Capital Projects/Improvements for the Central Corridor Development to Account No. 101.431.5531, Parks, Land Acquisition for the Central Corridor Acquisition and is to be used towards this land acquisition.
Section 3. That FIFTY SIX THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($56,150) is available from bond proceeds in Account No. 101.431.5531, Parks, Land Acquisition to cover the balance of the acquisition of this property.
