TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH FERGUSON WATERWORKS, FOR PURCHASE OF FIRE HYDRANT MATERIALS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on March 27, 2006 for fire hydrant materials; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with the lowest, most responsive, and responsible, bidder; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into contract with FERGUSON WATERWORKS, 3845 Groveport Road, Columbus, Ohio 43207, for fire hydrant materials at $1,190 each; in accordance with bid and City specifications; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of SIXTY FOUR THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($64,260) was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to Account No. 652.351.5510, WSCI, Minor Capital, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
