TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SAVKO & SONS, INC., FOR THE TECHCENTER DRIVE & SCIENCE BLVD. CONNECTOR; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE FUNDS THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on June 10, 2011 and the Director of Public Service is recommending we proceed with the lowest most responsive, and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, this contract includes the construction of four projects which include the TechCenter Drive and Science Blvd. extension (ST959), TechCenter and Science Blvd. Sanitary (SA960), Science Blvd. offsite storm (ST964), and TechCenter Drive to Taylor Road path (ST949); and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance as soon as possible so that work can begin immediately after the fuel site demolition is complete in order to stay on schedule, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into Contract with SAVKO & SONS, INC., 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214, for the TechCenter Drive and Science Blvd. Connector including Improvement No. ST 959, SA960, ST964, and ST949; bid tab attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY ONE THOUSAND FORTY FIVE DOLLARS ($871,045) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Tax Increment Equivalent Fund (Eastgate TIF) to Account No. 224.343.5930, Transfer to General Fund.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY ONE THOUSAND FORTY FIVE DOLLARS ($871,045) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.991.5936...
