TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH NATIONAL TESTING NETWORK, INC., TO CONDUCT PROFESSIONAL TESTING FOR ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER AND POLICE RADIO DISPATCHER POSITIONS FOR THE CITY OF GAHANNA, OHIO.

WHEREAS, National Testing Network (NTN) provides professional testing services for public safety departments through Ergometrics, and they have been working with Columbus State Community College to establish a testing center in Columbus; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna would like to utilize this non-City administered testing facility for police and radio dispatcher testing; and
WHEREAS, the City needs to enter into contract with NTN for an annual license cost of $150 a year that would cover everything involved with the testing, which is a significant savings for the City; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission did recommend at its August 2, 2011 meeting that Council approve authorizing the Mayor to enter into agreement for non-City administered testing for police and radio dispatchers; and
WHEREAS, new Civil Service Rules and Regulations will be passed to allow the city to utilize a non-City administered testing facility;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with NATIONAL TESTING NETWORK, INC., 18720 33rd Avenue, Lynnwood, Washington, 98037, to conduct tests for entry level police officer and radio dispatcher positions for the City of Gahanna; said Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($150) is available in Account No. 101.125.5278, Human Resources, Testing Material, to cover the herein cost.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
