TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO INTO A FIBER USE AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF COLUMBUS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the intent of this agreement is to provide both the City of Gahanna and the City of Columbus a link to bridge existing gaps within each respective fiber system while providing a connection point for coordination of traffic signal systems; and
 
WHEREAS, the agreement will provide the City of Gahanna the ability to extend fiber optic cable access to Blacklick Elementary while providing a means fo constant communication to better coordinate with the City of Columbus signals that lie just outside of our corporate boundary; and
 
WHEREAS, this agreement gives 6 strands of fiber to Columbus and Gahanna receives 6 strands; and
 
WHEREAS, since this arrangement helps multiple entities it should move forward as soon as possible and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Fiber Use Agreement between the City of Columbus and the City of Gahanna; said Agreement attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
 
Section 2.    That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
