TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATED LABOR AGREEMENT TITLED "CONTRACT BETWEEN CITY OF GAHANNA AND FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, CAPITAL CITY LODGE NO. 9, JANUARY 1, 2001- DECEMBER 31, 2003"; TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 980423; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Legal Counsel for the City, City Administrative Designees, and the Fraternal Order of Police, Capital City Lodge No. 9, have negotiated the pay and benefit package for the Uniformed Ranks of the Gahanna Police Department, and have made recommendation to this Council; and

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable to approve such negotiated Contract at the earliest possible date for employee morale, continued protection for the community, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into negotiated Labor Agreement, "CONTRACT BETWEEN CITY OF GAHANNA AND FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, CAPITAL CITY LODGE NO. 9, JANUARY 1, 2001- DECEMBER 31, 2003, said Agreement attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That the pay and benefits of this Agreement shall be retroactive to January 1, 2001.

 

Section 3.  That Ordinance No. 980423, passed October 19, 1998, and any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
