TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO REAL ESTATE PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH EAGLE ACADEMY OF COLUMBUS, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE OF 3.546 ACRES LOCATED AT 94 PRICE ROAD; AND TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE FUNDS THEREFOR

WHEREAS, the opportunity has arisen for the City to purchase 3.546 acres at 94 Price Road which is in the southwest flood plain area and owned by Eagle Academy of Columbus, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, this property is surrounded by 46.26 acres of park land and the Big Walnut Trail Section 6 was recently completed and runs on the eastern boundary of the site; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has been interested in this site for many reasons including the completion of the site, maintenance staging and indoor storage within the Morton building which is on site; and
WHEREAS, the addition of this property would increase the efficiency and sustainability of the department by allowing the extension of life of our equipment and materials stored in the facility;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Real Estate Purchase Contract with Eagle Academy of Columbus, Inc., 326 James Road, Gahanna, OH 43230 for the purchase of 3.546 acres of real property located at 94 Price Road, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That TWO HUNDRED THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($230,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund to Account No. 325.122.5531, Land Acquisition.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2010, passed January 2, 2010, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
