TO AMEND SECTION 131.06 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, RELATIVE TO THE MAYOR'S SALARY, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 3, 2000.

WHEREAS, in accordance with law, it is necessary to set forth compensation for the full-time position of Mayor of the City of Gahanna in a timely manner prior to the General Election; and
WHEREAS, is it the desire of this Council to provide compensation commensurate with the responsibilities of the position;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby determines that EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2, 2000, Section 131.06 of the Codified Ordinances of Gahanna, Ohio, is amended as follows:
131.06 FULL-TIME MAYOR
Commensurate compensation for the position of Mayor of the City of Gahanna is hereby authorized and directed in the amounts and on the effective dates declared below:
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 3, 2000:
SEVENTY-ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($71,500) per year, payable at regular pay periods.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2, 2001:
SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($74,360) per year, payable at regular pay periods.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2, 2002:
SEVENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED THIRTY-FOUR DOLLARS ($77,334) per year, payable at regular pay periods.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2, 2003:
EIGHTY THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS ($80,428) per year, payable at regular pay periods.
Hospitalization, surgical, major medical, life, dental, and vision insurance as set forth in Article V of the Unclassified Personnel Salary Ordinance shall apply to this full-time elected position.
Section 2. That Ordinance No. 9-95, passed July 18, 1995, and Ordinance No. 12-96, passed February 6, 1996, or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed on January 3, 2000.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
