WHEREAS, ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., was appointed as part-time Radio Dispatcher for the City of Gahanna on May 12, 1971, and became full time on September 18, 1971; and
WHEREAS, ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., was appointed as Police Officer on July 1, 1975, and served in that position until September 1, 2000 with over 25 years of service; and
WHEREAS, ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., was appointed to the Police Department Detective Bureau in November of 1989, where he served until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., proudly served the City of Gahanna in the great tradition set by his father, Roger F. Schirtzinger, Sr., who was Chief of Police for 18 years; and
WHEREAS, ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., truly has the heart of a servant and faithfully and joyously served the City of Gahanna and its citizens for over 29 years, putting only his love for God and his family above his love for this City; and
WHEREAS, ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., will be greatly missed by all of the City employees and citizens of Gahanna who will remain friends for life;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That ROGER F. "BUTCH" SCHIRTZINGER, JR., is honored for his diligence and dedicated service to the City of Gahanna as Police Officer and is extended the best wishes of this Council, the Administration and the citizens of Gahanna.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
