Title

TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE FRANKLIN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT PURCHASED WITH HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT FUNDS; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, in order to properly account for, and accept Homeland Security Grant funds, it has been determined that the City of Gahanna will have to enter into an agreement with Franklin County for all equipment purchased with said funds; and

 

WHEREAS, all jurisdictions are being asked to apply in order to receive equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, with the expiration of the current grant on June 30, 2006, it is necessary to proceed immediately with this legislation, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Franklin County Board of Commissioners in order to secure equipment provided by Homeland Security Grant funds, said agreement attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That second reading is hereby waived.

 

Section 3.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
