TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH NORTH AMERICAN ROCK SALT COMPANY, FOR ROCK SALT FOR THE 2006-2007 SEASON.

WHEREAS, rock salt for the 2006/2007 season was bid through the purchasing co-op group Southwest Ohio Purchasers for Government (SWOP4G), and the City is a member in good standing; and
WHEREAS, through the SWOP4G, the City can purchase rock salt, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to proceed with this purchase now to have sufficient supply at the beginning of the season;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is authorized to award, and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract for rock salt for the 2006-2007 season with AMERICAN ROCK SALT COMPANY, LLC, P.O. Box 190, Mt. Morris, New York, 14510, at a rate of $47.62 a ton, which includes a $2.50 a ton piling charge; in accordance with bid and City specifications; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That funding was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to Account No. 220.330.5321, Street Material, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
