TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT CONTRIBUTION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COLUMBUS AND CITY OF GAHANNA FOR ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT, STYGLER ROAD CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $30,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the section of Stygler Road immediately north of the Gahanna corporate boundary is in need of extensive repair and the City of Columbus has been working on plans to rebuild this section with walls to stabilize the hillside; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the project will be in Gahanna territory because of the grading work, and sidewalks will be included; and
WHEREAS, when the Columbus portion of sidewalk is installed there will be a section of 660 feet along Stygler Road inside Gahanna without sidewalk; and
WHEREAS, Columbus will include this section of sidewalk if we contribute the local share of the expense and pass legislation authorizing an Agreement with Columbus; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to pass this legislation at the earliest date possible so that we can enter into agreement with Columbus to install the sidewalks along with the project, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Capital Improvement Project Contribution Agreement with City of Columbus for Roadway Improvements along Stygler Road, specifically sidewalk installation; Contribution Agreement attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvements Fund to Account No. 325.122.5513, Capital, Streets, to cover the herein cost.
