TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH STANTEC CONSULTING SERVICES, INC., FOR PRELIMINARY DESIGN FOR WIDENING OF STYGLER ROAD BETWEEN AGLER ROAD AND U.S. ROUTE 62 FOR A TURN LANE FROM SOUTHBOUND STYGLER TO WESTBOUND 62; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $24,500; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, proposal has been received from Stantec for preliminary design for the widening of Stygler Road between Agler Road and U.S. 62, for an additional turn lane; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended we proceed with Stantec; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward so that the City will be in a position to apply for a grant in the Fall, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with STANTEC CONSULTING SERVICES, INC., 1500 Lake Shore Drive, Suite 100, Columbus, Ohio 43204, for preliminary design for widening of Stygler Road between Agler Road and U.S. 62; proposal is attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWENTY FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($24,500) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5596, Engineering, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reason set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
