TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH METRO TELECOM SERVICES FOR MOBILE DATA TERMINALS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $129,931 THEREFOR; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS,  the Police Department wishes to install mobile data terminals in police cruisers and has received a Cops More 98 Award in the amount of $89,700 to cover a portion of the costs; and

 

WHEREAS, proposal has been received from Metro Telecom Services for Phase 1 of this project at a total cost of $129,931; and

 

WHEREAS, a time constraint is involved in the use of the Cops More 98 Award in that the award end date is November 30, 1999;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with Metro Telecom Services for the Mobile Data Project in accordance with proposal, attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That ONE HUNDRED TWENTY NINE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED THIRTY ONE DOLLARS ($129,931) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance in the General Fund Account No. 101.211.5512, Police, Capital Projects, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That second reading of this ordinance is hereby waived.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
