TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE MID-OHIO REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (MORPC) FOR FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION (FTA) SECTION 5310 FUNDING UNDER THE ENHANCED MOBILITY FOR OLDER ADULTS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES PROGRAM
BODY
WHEREAS, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) provides financial assistance for transportation programs that improve mobility for older adults and individuals with disabilities through the Enhanced Mobility of Older Adults and Individuals with Disabilities Program (Section 5310); and
WHEREAS, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) serves as the designated recipient for FTA Section 5310 funds for the Columbus Urbanized Area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna desires to apply for Section 5310 funding through MORPC to support a new pilot program providing supplemental transportation services for members of the Gahanna Senior Center, expanding mobility options beyond the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990; and
WHEREAS, the Section 5310 Program provides up to eighty percent (80%) federal funding for eligible capital projects that improve access and mobility for older adults and individuals with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, a Resolution of Authority is required by MORPC and the FTA to accompany the application, authorizing submission of the funding request and designating the Mayor as the authorized representative of the City of Gahanna to act in connection with the application; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that Council adopt this Resolution to authorize submission of the funding application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO, THAT:
