TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH HOCKADEN AND ASSOCIATES, INC., FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES OF THE SOUTH TRIANGLE CONNECTOR ROADS, IMPROVEMENT NO. 702; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $45,000 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS,the property owners in the triangle south area are ready to develop and, according to the adopted plan, a connector road is to be built starting on Johnstown Road and connecting Silver Lane and Beecher; and
WHEREAS, proposal has been received for engineering design services for this project and has been recommended by the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, due to important development and growth in this area, it is deemed appropriate and necessary to expedite this work at the earliest possible date for orderly control, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with HOCKADEN AND ASSOCIATES, INC., 883, North Cassady Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219, for engineering services for the South Connector Roads (26' Pavement) to Proposed Beecher Road in accordance with letter quotation of March 10, 1998, attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and in accordance with City specifications.
Section 2. That the amount of Forty-Five Thousand Dollars is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in The General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5533, Capital Projects, Engineering, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That Ordinance No. 980001, passed January 2, 1998, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
