TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR A PORTION OF THE DESIGN OF THE TECH CENTER DRIVE EXTENSION FOR ROADWAY ACROSS THE BUCKLES PROPERTY, IMPROVEMENT NOS. 762, 770 AND 771; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, amended proposal has been received from Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, for a portion of the design of improvements, for a roadway across the Buckles Property to align with a future planned extension of Tech Center Drive across I-270; specifically work performed within the Hamilton Road Resurfacing Plan, and the City Engineer has recommended we accept it and proceed; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this design work to help alleviate the traffic flow problem in the Hamilton and Morrison Road area, all for the preservation of the public, peace, health, safety and welfare:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Amendment to Contract with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for design improvements in conjunction with the extension of Tech Center Drive, Improvement Nos. 762, 770 and 771, specifically to include the work performed with the Hamilton Road Resurfacing Plan; said Amended Contract attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That to cover the herein costs, funding in the amount of SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($75,000) was appropriated in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5533, Capital Projects, Engineering.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
