TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 980509, TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH DENNIS MURPHY IN HIS POSITION OF CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 980509, passed 12/21/98, provided the salary and benefit package for Chief of Police Dennis Murphy; and
WHEREAS, an error was made in Article VII, Vacation Leave, of said contract; and
WHEREAS, this error was discussed by Chief Murphy and Mayor McGregor and discussed in Council Finance Committee; and
WHEREAS, in order to effect the correction as quickly as possible, it is deemed necessary and prudent to declare this legislation emergency for guaranteed continuity for the head of our police division, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Article VII, Vacation Leave, of Ordinance No. 980509, is hereby amended as shown in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
