WHEREAS, a charter change approved by the voters in November, 2001 created a Department of Human Resources; and

 

WHEREAS, the need for a Director of Human Resources to head the Department is established and the position needs to be created and funded; and

 

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and appropriate at this time to create and fund this new position as quickly as possible in order to provide for the comprehensive and streamlined application of human resource functions, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That, under authority of Charter Section 13.03(L), Classified and Unclassified Service there is hereby established the full-time unclassified position of Director of Human Resources, said position to be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.

 

Section 2.  That the duties for this position are as outlined in Chapter 138 of the Codified Ordinances.

 

Section 3.  That compensation for this position is hereby established as the range of $50,000 to $70,000.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
