TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR ALTERNATIVE FUNDING THROUGH THE MID-OHIO REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (MORPC) ATTRIBUTABLE FUNDS FOR THE BIG WALNUT TRAIL - SECTION 8
BODY
WHEREAS, Section 8 of the Big Walnut Trail is the final phase of the regional trail system running north-south through the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, existing trail travels south from Morse Road for approximately 4.5 miles to Rocky Fork Drive; and
WHEREAS, the Big Walnut Trail Section 8 will begin at Rocky Fork Drive South and travel within the City of Gahanna’s property south along the creek, then east along the I-270 ramp to Hamilton Road; and
WHEREAS, the multiuse trail will then proceed south, across the west side of the Hamilton Road bridge structure (FRA-317-1720); and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking alternative funding for the Big Walnut Trail Section 8; and
WHEREAS, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) utilizes an application and selection process to allocate a portion of federal transportation funding, also known as MORPC Attributable Funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to prepare and submit an application on behalf of the City of Gahanna to request and accept financial assistance from the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s Attributable Transportation Funding for alternative funding for Big Walnut Trail Section 8; authorized signature form attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
