TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH REM COMMUNICATIONS FOR PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF RADIO COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $60,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Police Radio Dispatching Center is in need of up to date equipment to serve the citizens of Gahanna to the fullest potential; and

 

WHEREAS, quotes have been received from two companies, and the lowest most responsible and responsive bid is being recommended; and

 

WHEREAS it is imperative to move forward with this equipment all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with REM Communications, 2625 Johnstown Road, Columbus, Ohio 43219, for purchase and installation of radio communications equipment, all in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS($60,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.211.5512, Capital Projects/Equipment Police, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2002 passed January 2, 2002 is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That waiver of second reading has been requested.

 

Section 5.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
