WHEREAS, ORD-0104-2004, passed May 5, 2004 established salary and benefits for the uniformed ranks of the Gahanna Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, the current contract will expire on December 31, 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, an extension of time for the statutory factfinding procedure is necessary, to extend on a 30 day basis for the next 90 days; and 

 

WHEREAS, it is critical for the orderly flow of business to allow this agreement to be extended in a timely fashion, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police to extend the factfinding time lines on a monthly basis for a period not to exceed 90 days; Agreement attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That all other provisions of the ordinance mentioned above, not in conflict with this ordinance, are in full force and effect.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and upon date of signature approval by the Mayor.
